What is pity in Genshin Impact?
Pity is the guaranteed wish system in Genshin Impact. You're guaranteed a 4-star character or weapon every 10 pulls, and a 5-star every 90 pulls on character banners (80 on weapon banners). If you don't get the featured 5-star character, your next 5-star is guaranteed to be the featured one.
How many primogems do I need for a guaranteed 5-star?
Each wish costs 160 primogems. For a guaranteed featured 5-star on the character banner (worst case), you need 28,800 primogems (180 pulls if you lose the 50/50 twice). However, most players get a 5-star around 62-78 pulls due to soft pity, requiring about 10,000-12,500 primogems on average.
Does pity carry over between banners?
Yes! Pity carries over between banners of the same type. Character event wish pity transfers to the next character event wish. However, pity does NOT transfer between different banner types - character, weapon, and standard banners each have separate pity counters that don't affect each other.
What is soft pity and how does it work?
Soft pity significantly increases your 5-star drop rate starting at pull 74 on character/standard banners and pull 63 on weapon banners. Instead of the base 0.6% rate, your odds increase substantially with each pull. Most players receive their 5-star between pulls 75-80 rather than hitting hard pity at 90.
How is Welkin Moon calculated in this calculator?
Welkin Moon (Blessing of the Welkin Moon) gives you 90 primogems daily for 30 days when you log in, plus 300 Genesis Crystals immediately upon purchase. Our calculator includes both the daily primogems (90 × days left) and the instant 300 Genesis Crystals (equivalent to 300 primogems worth of pulls).
Why do I have separate pity counters for each banner?
In the actual game, each banner type (Character Event, Weapon Event, Standard) maintains its own independent pity counter. This calculator mirrors that system - your pity on the character banner doesn't affect your weapon banner pity and vice versa. You can switch between tabs to track each separately.
What does "realistic" vs "worst case" mean?
Worst case assumes you hit hard pity every time (90 pulls for character, 80 for weapon). Realistic uses statistical averages from community data - most players get 5-stars around pull 62-65. The realistic estimate gives you a more likely scenario while worst case ensures you're prepared for bad luck.
Can I track multiple upcoming banners?
Currently, the calculator tracks one banner at a time, but your pity data is automatically saved for each banner type. You can switch between Character Event, Weapon Event, and Standard to see your progress on each. Multi-banner planning (for consecutive banners) is coming in a future update.
